Forum against GBV – FISD had been an active member of the forum against GBV
since 2011. The GBV Forum was set up on 24th August 2005 following a
consultation with selected agencies working on gender–based violence (GBV)
issues, in order to facilitate greater coordination, understanding & sharing of
information and resources and strengthen multi-sectoral responses to GBV.
The membership of the forum is broad-based including local NGOs, International NGOs, UN agencies, donor agencies and Government representation by the National Committee on Women (NCW) of the Ministry of Child Development & Women’s Empowerment. The members of the GBV Forum include United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA)- Chair of the GBV Forum, OXFAM – GB, CARE International Sri Lanka, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), National Committee on Women (NCW), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Women and Media Collective (WMC), Women in Need (WIN), Women’s Development Centre – Kandy (WDC), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Foundation for innovative social development (FISD), Action Aid International, Action Aid Sri Lanka, National Peace Council (NPC), World Health Organization (WHO), UNDP Regional Centre, Association of War Affected Women (AWAW), International Labor Organization (ILO), World University Service of Canada Sri Lanka (WUSC), Women Defining Peace (WDP) and Christian Children’s Fund – Sri Lanka (CCF).
Men Engage Alliance Sri Lanka was initiated in early 2014 with few national
and international organizations working in Sri lanka for the prevention of
violence against women and plays a major role in engaging men for the same
cause. The Men Engage Sri Lanka has joined hands in membership with the Global
and Regional Men Engage Alliances with the aim of actively participate in and
coordinate activities conducted in Sri Lanka for engaging men for the prevention
of Gender Based Violence
FISD hold membership in the “South Asia Regional commitment for engaging men and boys for gender justice”

1.South Asia Initiative to End Violence Against Children (SAIEVAC) –
National Action & Coordination Group (NACG – Sri Lanka)
National Action and Coordination Groups are set up in Every SAARC country to work for 5 thematic areas to end violence against children. While collaborating at a Regional level NACGs also function at local level to fight the cause. NACG Sri Lanka was established in the year 2012 and FISD holds the Chair position from December 2013. Consisting of regional forums in the 25 Districts of Sri Lanka NACG has more than 40 member organizations and several networks
2. RISE Learning Network - Promoting learning on Recovery and (Re)integration from Child Sexual Exploitation , It is a Project implemented by Family for Every Child, a global alliance of national civil society organisations, Retrak, an international NGO working with street-connected children, and the International Centre: Researching Child Sexual Exploitation, Violence and Trafficking, University of Bedfordshire.
The Project has three learning hubs in Latin America and the Caribbean, Sub Saharan Africa and South and Central Asia where Regional working Groups are established in each of the Regions. FISD is a member of the South and Central Asia’s working group
3. Girls Not Brides is a global partnership to end child marriage where FISD obtained its membership in 2016. It has a membership of more than 650 civil society organizations across the regions. We work to end child marriage as well as to support married girls.
Sri Lanka Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations (SL FONGOADA) is an umbrella organization of Non-Government Organizations working against Drug Abuse. It is also the NGO arm for the prevention and treatment of substance abuse. The SL FONGOADA that was established as in 1986 also functions as a sub-committee of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board (NDDCB). The Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations was established with the objectives of nurturing a strong working relationship between the government and the non-governmental organizations working on the field.
SLFONGOADA is affiliated to International Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations for Prevention of Drug and Substance Abuse (IFNGO) and Asia Pacific NGO Committee. FISD ADD programme is hold the current vice-presidency of the SLFOGOADA and been a member of the Executive Committee since 2011.
The Sri Lanka Alcohol Policy Alliance (SLAPA) is an alliance of civil society organizations for a meaningful dialog among the civil society actors, and between the civil society actors and relevant policy makers as well as the policy implementer for effective policy formulation as well as for policy implementation to reduce the supply and demand for alcohol and the to reduce the relevant problems.
SLAPA also capacity builds and mobilizes civil society actors at the district levels and the grass-root levels to advocate for effective and evidence based policies to reduce alcohol use and its associated problems. FISD ADD programme is a founder member of the Sri Lanka Alcohol Policy Alliance (SLAPA) and the joint organiser of it since 2015.
