Dr. Anusha Edirisinghe

Dr. Anusha Edirisinghe is a distinguished academic in criminology and gender studies. As the Head of the Department of Criminology at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanka she plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic and research direction of criminology studies in the country. She serves as a member of the Standing Committee on Gender Equality and Equity under the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka, contributing to policies and frameworks that promote gender equity. Her commitment to justice and rehabilitation is further reflected in her role as a consultant for the Department of Community-Based Corrections at the Ministry of Justice. Dr. Edirisinghe is also a secretary of the Asian Crime Prevention Foundation, Sri Lanka. Her leadership extends to the National Institute of Social Development, where she serves as a board member. She is the chairperson of the advisory committee of the Centre for gender studies, University of Kelaniya. She was also the former Director of the same Centre, where she spearheaded various initiatives to advance understanding of gender issues. Dr. Edirisinghe’s multifaceted roles highlight her dedication to criminology, gender studies, and social justice, making her a leading figure in these fields.
